LOGAN
ANNOUNCES SWIMMING POOL GRANT
HARRISBURG, March 1, 2007 - -
State Sen. Sean Logan (D-Allegheny/Westmoreland) today
announced that he secured $75,000 in state grants for improvements at the
Plum Aqua
Club’s community swimming pool.
“This is a great project for the state to help fund,” Logan said.
“Community swimming pools encourage quality family time and are a
wonderful asset.”
The
state grant money will be used to replace the concrete in the main and
baby pools, make the community pool more handicap accessible, and replace
drains and filtration systems to meet new state guidelines.
“These improvements are essential to the continued operation of our
swimming pools,” said Plum Aqua Club President Ken Joy. “I tip my hat to
Senator Logan for his continued commitment to valuable local organizations
that bring the community closer together.”
The
Plum Aqua Club is a non-profit corporation formed to foster and promote
recreational, social and civic activities of and for its members. The
facility has been in operation for several decades in Plum Borough and its
operating income is derived largely through annual membership dues.
“Our
organization has been a staple in Plum Borough for years now,” said Plum
Aqua Club board member Eric Ferchaw. “With this grant money secured by
Senator Logan, we will be able to continue to make the summer a more
enjoyable time for local families.”
Logan said the improvements to the Plum Aqua Club community swimming pool
facility are expected to be completed by the start of the 2008 swimming
season.
